DEVELOPMENT PLANNER
Post Level 3 (R164 251.13 –R 168 382.06) plus R60 000.00 p.a

Key Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree or B Tech degree in Town and Regional Planning or Development Planning Degree in a recognized Tertiary Institution
  • A Post Graduate Degree in the above will be an added advantage
  • An applied knowledge of GIS will be an advantage
  • 3 Years experience in development planning
  • Good communication in both Isizulu and English
  • A valid code B driver's license is mandatory
Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will be reporting to the IDP Manager, and will be responsible for:
  • Provision of support to the Manager: Planning and Development in the execution of development planning responsibilities
  • Provision of support in preparation of Integrated Development Plan (IDP) of the municipality
  • Assisting management with Development Planning projects (townships establishment, feasibility studies etc)
  • Preparation and review of the Spatial Development Framework of the municipality
  • Driving the implementation of the Land Use Management System
  • Promotion of development planning initiatives in the municipality
  • Driving the implementation of Municipal Property rates Act in the municipality
  • Provision of professional technical advice on land development and land use applications
  • Provision of guidance and support for IDP implementation through alignment of the municipality policies with the district, provincial and national policies
  • Undertaking site inspection in order to provide development planning advise to various projects
  • Management of developmental information using Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Supporting the preparation of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) of the Municipality
  • Managing municipality's input into Permission to Occupy (PTO's) applications
  • Attending workshops, seminars, port folio committee meetings on behalf of the municipality
Key Attributes
  • In depth understanding of development planning, its theoretical framework and it principles
  • Have sound understanding of Government policies and Government development agenda
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and sound report writing
  • Good project management skills
